About the Artist

A Lifetime of Art , Preserved Digitally

This digital archive represents original hand-painted artworks created over many years by Indian artist Swapan Kumar Das. Each piece was created by hand, long before the digital age, and is now carefully preserved to live on.

Artist Swapan Das has achieved a distinctive level of artistic excellence through years of dedication beyond the boundaries of formal institutional education. Rather than learning from art colleges, his true classrooms have been nature, history, culture, and lived human experience.

He believes his artistic ability to be a God-given gift, and it is this belief that guides the quiet integrity and individuality found in each of his works. Every brushstroke carries intention, reflection, and a deep sense of purpose.

His art draws profound inspiration from India’s rich heritage, ancient architecture, and spiritual traditions. A deep admiration for historical sites such as Hampi, Ajanta, and Ellora, along with India’s diverse folk traditions, shapes the visual language of his creations. These influences allow his work to stand apart — rooted in history, yet timeless in expression.

Swapan Das does not simply paint images; he translates stories of civilization, faith, and human thought onto the canvas. His lifelong pursuit has been to develop a distinct signature style, free from the influence of contemporary trends or imitation.

Despite the absence of formal academic training, the subtlety, depth, and sincerity of his work have established him as an original and deeply committed artist. For him, art is not a destination, but a continuous journey of self-exploration, discipline, and devotion to the Almighty.
